Nordic Police Research 2004-2009 provides an overview of and insight into the recent Nordic research on the police. The report is divided thematically into "Profession, Organization and Management,” "Crime Combating and Investigation”, “Governance, Democracy and Authority" and "A glance at the Police.”

A significant proportion of 172 scientific works are master's level theses, 18 doctoral dissertations (in the fields of criminology, psychology, history, political science, pedagogy, linguistics and Middle East studies) and a smaller number are articles and reports. The majority of these are qualitatively oriented. Only 46 are quantitative in their methodological approach.
